My Journey through anxiety & panic
Continued... I was offered valium from my doctor, but I was raising a family and couldn't be under the influence and be a parent. I sought counseling, but could not find a counselor who understood anxiety or panic, and I did not have insurance that would cover treatment. Every place I sought help turned me away, primarily it resting on the almighty dollar, even catholic charities would not see me unless I had $95.00 up front, they wouldn't even work out a payment plan for me.
I launched into understanding the nature of personal reality and psychology and learned the mechanisms, triggers and solutions over time. I conquered it! Except for one last thing, traveling on an airplane. That is where it all began, and I couldn't get up the courage or risk a non-refundable ticket to try it out.
I attended a lecture at Daley College on hypnosis, Ron Tater spoke on hypnosis, hypnotherapy, how it can assist with phobia's, fears, etc... This intrigued me. I decided to give it a try with my phobia of traveling on a plane. I made an appointment the very next day, had a consultation and then a singular hypnosis session and left with a recording of it.
Not long afterwards, I sensed something shifted. When I thought of visiting my mother in Arizona, my stomach no longer seized, or felt that pang of fear. At this point, there was no way I was going to allow fear to lead my life. I booked a flight, packed the audiotape, just in case, and boarded the flight. Yes, I was a bit apprehensive, but I conquered all the issues that previously caused panic and knew I could do it. And I did!
Once I corrected my thinking, I had the world, my world by the tail, and the only limitations I have ever experience from that point onward was the extent of my imagination." KAE
